- The odds of winning any prize in the Heart&Stroke Lottery Sprig 2010 are approximately 1 in 3. The lottery industry practice is to calculate the odds by taking the number of tickets sold, divided by the number of prizes available. That is 255,000 tickets / 73,086 prizes = 3. To keep the odds constant at 1 in 3, each winning token is re -entered into the drum. Best Odds Ever is based on mega charity lotteries in Ontario at the time of printing.

Guidelines for purchasing a 3-Pack for $250 are as follows:- Only ONE method of payment.
- Only ONE mailing address. (Must be in Province of Ontario).
- Only ONE envelope will be mailed containing all 3 tickets.
- Up to THREE names may be recorded on a ticket. (All three tickets must contain the same information. Tickets cannot be purchase in the name of a minor.)
- Who is not eligible to purchase a ticket?
- Those NOT eligible to purchase a ticket include the following individuals and all of their immediate family members residing in the same household from purchasing a ticket: Heart and Stroke Foundation Board of Directors and employees; MiraTel Solutions Inc. employees, and members of licensed gaming suppliers providing services to the lottery program.
- Are Lottery tickets tax deductible?
- Lottery Tickets are NON -TAX DEDUCTIBLE in accordance with Canada Customs and Revenue Agency policies; charitable lotteries are prohibited from issuing tax receipts for lottery tickets. You CAN make a donation in addition to your ticket request and receive a tax receipt for the donation portion of your order.
- Are Lottery winnings taxable?
- No, lottery winnings are considered a windfall and not taxable in Canada. For further detail regarding the sale of such goods, please seek professional counsel.
- I have misplaced my ticket for the Lottery. Am I still eligible for the draws?
- Yes. The official ticket numbers that are issued for the Heart&Stroke Lottery are automatically entered in the draw via printed tokens at the time of purchase. Tickets are mainly intended for your records and are not required to redeem a prize. If your name is drawn, you will receive a notification letter outlining the prize fulfillment process.
- I never received my ticket for the Lottery. Am I still eligible for the draws?
- If you have not received a ticket within 2 weeks of ordering, please contact customer service to ensure that your order has been processed. - Live Carefree for a Year Draw will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday May 27, 2010.
- Early Bird Cash Prize Draw will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Friday June 25, 2010.
- Final Draws will be held from 9:00 a.m. June 30 - July 13, 2010.
- The Ten (10) Grand Prize Draws will be conducted at Global Television, 81 Barber Greene Rd., Don Mills, Ontario M3C 2A2 on July 20, 2010 from 9:00 am - 2 pm. Top 3 Grand Prizes draws (taped July 20) will be broadcast on July 26, 2010 during Global News from 6:00-7:00 pm.

- How will I know if I've won a prize?
- On Tuesday August 3rd 2010, major winners will be announced in the Toronto Star. The complete winners list will be also be available online at www.heartandstroke.ca/lottery starting Tuesday August 3rd 2010. A printed list will be accessible at local Heart and Stroke Foundation Offices across Ontario. All winners will be notified in writing as to what they have won and how to claim their prize.
- How do I claim my prize?
- You will receive a letter from the Heart&Stroke Lottery providing you with the exact details on how to claim your prize. If you won and have not received this letter by Tuesday August 3rd 2010, please call the Customer Service department. They can be reached by calling 1-888-513-2092 (in Toronto: 416-650-6211) or E -mail: lottery@hsf.on.ca. Major winners will be contacted by phone.
- How long do I have to claim my prize?
- We ask that winners claim their prizes as soon as possible. All prizes must be claimed by July 14, 2011, twelve (12) months after the final draw date. Cheques will be forwarded to the winners of cash prizes.
- If I win the car, can I take the cash instead and how much is the cash out?
- Yes, you can take the cash instead. Cash equivalent for all vehicles is based on the net cost to the HSFO before all taxes, freight, PDI, gas tax and dealer service fees and is equal to 92.5% of the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price.

For those lottery ticket holders who live outside of the province of Ontario that have won a vehicle prize and wish to take the vehicle and not the cash out alternative, the Heart&Stroke Lottery requires that the winner return to Ontario to pick up their prize from the Heart and Stroke Foundation Provincial Office or the Area Office of the winners' choice.Cash over $1000
For lottery ticket holders who have won a major cash prize valued over $1,000 or who choose the cash out option offered on some prizes, the Heart&Stroke Lottery will require that the winner pick up their prize from a registered Purolator Retail Centre located closest to them. The winner will be required to provide proper photo identification before the package will be released.Electronic, Home and Lifestyle Prizes
For those lottery winners with delivery addresses outside of the province of Ontario that have won a Electronic, Home and Lifestyle Prize, the Heart&Stroke Lottery will ship the Electronic, Home and Lifestyle Prize to the primary ticket holder directly as long as they are within Canada. Lottery winners with addresses outside of Canada that have won a Electronic, Home and Lifestyle Prize must provide an alternate Canadian shipping address. Unfortunately, the Heart&Stroke Lottery can't ship Electronic, Home and Lifestyle Prizeoutside of Canada.
